Interior Painting

I'm an old fashioned guy when it comes to painting. There is a price to be paid for taking shortcuts. I don't take shortcuts. In painting; "what you don't see" is "what you get". This means a strict adherence to all the necessary steps of the process is of the utmost importance.

Too many people in our business fall prey to the pressures of time and price.

Not me, I take the long-term view, hence my unconditional five year warranty.

Natural wood refinishing  is almost an entirely different discipline from regular painting. It is very often overlooked what a difference a beautifully finished (or refinished) banister railing makes to the appearance of a hallway.

Decorative finishes  We offer a vast array of decorative finishes. From traditional glazing techniques to exotic and colorful Venetian plasters.

We can also find the right artist for you to do a beautiful mural or any special painted effect you might be looking for.

Color consulting  If you decide to hire an interior decorator, choosing the right colors will be something you and your decorator decide together. However, if you don't feel you need an interior decorator, but do need color advice, we can provide that for you free of charge.

If you want the very best in color consulting we have in the past worked with Bonnie Krims, a renowned color consultant. She can work with you to set up a color schedule for any painting project, both exterior and interior.

Kitchen cabinets re-finishing is a specialty we have dedicated ourselves to for years. It makes a lot of sense. A perfectly good kitchen, but you want to up-date it, or you don't like the color, or the natural wood look anymore. Buying new cabinets can cost tens of thousands of dollars, whereas refinishing costs a fraction of that, and the results, when done right, can be stunning.

Exterior Painting

Exterior painting is quite different from interior painting. It requires a deeper knowledge of both architectural principles, as well as a solid knowledge of general building and construction.

Many painting companies use their least skilled workers on exterior jobs. Big mistake. An inexperienced painting crew can do a lot more damage to your house than you might think.

The same careful working methods that you expect from an interior painting crew should also be expected from an exterior crew.

Shutters repaired  When we start an exterior job, we often find shutters that are in the process of falling apart. Since most painters only paint, they will suggest: "buy new ones". We, on the other hand, have perfected the "art" of repairing shutters. It's actually not that hard. We replace missing slats, and re-glue loose ones. A few well placed screws, and/or some epoxy fillings and your shutters will be good again for a long time. All this at a tremendous cost savings over replacing them. In my opinion, it actually looks better than new ones, because it's usually more in tune with the character house.

Outdoor furniture  Natural wood furniture for outdoors is becoming very popular. Unfortunately, left unattended to the elements, this furniture can quickly turn gray, and dry out. For relatively little money we can restore these pieces to their original glory.

Repair work  In the process of an exterior painting project it is not uncommon to find things that need repair, like loose clapboards, maybe a rotted windowsill.
Most of these issues can be taken care of by our own crew. If more extensive repairs are needed, we can help you find the right professionals.

Refinishing decks  Outdoor decks are a special challenge in our climate. Do not believe what you read on the cans of products formulated for refinishing decks. It's not written with our specific climate in mind.

If you can: talk to a painter who has a lot of experience with refinishing decks. It's preferred that you do this at the time of construction, or even in the planning stage.

The maintenance cost of your deck may surprise you. We can greatly lower these costs by making a sensible long term maintenance plan for your deck.
